Child Responsibility at Girls' Programming Network

Tech Inclusion, Girls' Programming Network (GPN), and GPN's volunteers all strive to provide a safe environment for all GPN students, providing a supervised environment for the duration of the GPN workshop activities occurring at the GPN workshop venue. However, we rely on the guardians of students and students themselves to assess the maturity of students signing up to participate at GPN. Tech Inclusion, GPN, and volunteers at GPN do not take responsibility for the actions of GPN students during the GPN workshop or their arrival, departure, or any travel to and from the GPN workshop venue.

When a student is signed up to attend a GPN workshop, it is the responsibility of their guardian to assess their level of maturity regarding their student's unaccompanied participation in the GPN workshop. Guardians should take special care to consider the student's ability to manage their own food intake at the workshop if they have any dietary restrictions. If the guardian or a delegate will not be dropping the student off directly at the GPN workshop, guardians should consider the student's ability to navigate their own way to the GPN workshop or any specified public transport GPN collection point (if offered at your local GPN node). If your child is signed up for a public transport collection option but does not arrive at the designated collection point or the GPN workshop venue, we will attempt to contact the guardian or the student for safety purposes.

GPN workshop activities will be supervised at all times, and it is preferred that students stay for the whole GPN workshop. If your child does need to leave early, kindly inform Tech Inclusion in advance and ask your child to notify a GPN volunteer before departing. If a student is noted to have departed early without us being advised prior, we will attempt to contact the student’s listed guardian. Tech Inclusion, GPN and volunteers at GPN do not take responsibility for students choosing to leave the workshop without permission from their guardians or GPN volunteers

We expect all participants, volunteers, and visitors to our events to abide by our Code of Conduct as outlined here: https://www.girlsprogramming.network/code-of-conduct
